Even though the announcement of school closures due to COVID-19 came as a shock to our community in March, Fr. Marquette Catholic Academy (FMCA) in Marquette was ready and prepared to begin the delivery of remote education to all students, grades PreK-8.
On Monday, March 16, FMCA began remotely educating students, and we have been working diligently to streamline and perfect our delivery of instruction.
Right now, grades 3-8 are learning in Google Classroom, where teachers deliver lessons via Zoom, and provide engaging lessons and assignments for their students. Grades K-2 receive specialized, educational packets every two weeks, and they also have access to Google Classroom, where their teachers post interactive materials, videos, and offer Zoom opportunities. Our Pre-K classes are also in Google Classroom, where their teachers meet with them for regular circle time and provide parents with activities and lessons to support their children. In addition, every teacher is continuing Religion instruction and prayer.
While this continued remote education is not a requirement, we highly recommend our families participate, and we offer as much educational, technical, social and spiritual support as we can.
We have detailed plans for assessing our students at the end of our distance learning experience, and additionally, will be ready to address the ‘gap’ in learning when we enter the 2020/2021 school year.
COVID-19 brought fear, confusion, and difficulties. However, through these challenges we found hope, strength, and a deeper faith. Thankfully, FMCA is a tight-knit community, a family, and one important lesson of many that we will take away from these new experiences is that
with faithwe can persevere through anything!
