In a letter sent home following the closure of school buildings for the remainder of the year, superintendent Mark Salisbury assured Catholic school parents that at-home instruction will count toward the instructional hours and days required to complete this school year.
"We want to ensure everyone that we are continuing our distance learning efforts ... We are confident that it is in our students’ best interests to continue learning and developing skills remotely while they are unable to attend school in person," Salisbury said.
While noting this is not the same as full-time learning in the schools, Salisbury remarked how proud he is of the way Catholic school principals and teachers have stepped up to do their best: "Our school principals and teachers will assess each of our students in order to identify any essential gaps in learning and address these gaps so that every student may continue to flourish academically."
During this difficult time, Salisbury is impressed by the way Catholic school families have pulled together to help one another out for the sake of the students. He said, "I have learned much about the strength of our families and staffs. Catholic School communities are real families of faith and love. Thanks to all of you for your efforts to stay positive, calm and get the work done that needs to be done through the rest of our school year."
